Care Guide
NIVVAAS pieces are made to be used and enjoyed for years. A little care keeps their finish beautiful.
Everyday care
- Wipe with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth, then dry immediately.
- Avoid abrasive scrubbers, steel wool and harsh chemicals or bleach.
- Unless a product page says otherwise, pieces are not dishwasher or microwave safe.
- Do not leave pieces soaking in water, or standing with water or acidic food on them for long.
- Store in a dry place, ideally wrapped in a soft cloth or the original packaging.
Brass
- Brass naturally darkens over time; many love this warm patina.
- To restore shine, use a mild brass cleaner, or a paste of lemon juice or tamarind with a little salt. Rub gently, rinse, and dry thoroughly.
- For pieces used with food, wash with mild soap and warm water and dry straight away.
Silver-plated and gold-finish pieces
- Clean gently with a soft cloth; do not polish hard or use abrasive polish, which can wear away the plating.
- Keep away from moisture and store wrapped to slow tarnishing.
Enamel and painted pieces
- Hand-wash with mild soap and a soft sponge. Do not scrub the painted surface.
- Avoid very hot items directly on the surface and sudden temperature changes.
Glass
- Hand-wash with warm, soapy water and dry with a lint-free cloth.
- Avoid sudden temperature changes to prevent cracking.
Marble
- Marble is porous: wipe spills straight away, especially oil, wine, turmeric and citrus.
- Clean with a damp cloth and mild soap only; avoid vinegar, lemon and acidic cleaners.
Handcrafted character
Small variations in colour, texture, finish and hammer marks are part of the handmade process and make every piece unique.
